Working in Denmark is an exciting challenge
– but remember your safety net!
Starting a new job in another country is a challenge indeed. You need to find a place to live, learn a new language and start working in a job culture not quite like the one you are used to.
To be able to settle in well in your new country and new job, you need to quickly acquire a good knowledge of Danish. Danish lessons must be targeted and based on your level of proficiency. It is also important for you to gain an understanding of Danish culture and society and a thorough introduction to the Danish job market.
If you are a member of an unemployment fund in your home country, you should immediately look into whether you can transfer your earned benefit rights to Denmark and thus be entitled to receive unemployment benefit if you lose your job in Denmark through no fault of your own.
All the details do not fall into place automatically. However, if you join FOA, the Care and Service Union, we can help you get off to a good start.
